Tamara Tobias is an online luxury scarf boutique founded by Central Saint Martin’s Fashion graduate Tamara Fowler. I was lucky enough to be sent two of Tamara’s incredibly beautiful scarves.
Tamara studied in London for four years, where she completed a BA (Hons) degree in Fashion Design in Womenswear and subsequently took a year out working for Betty Jackson and Clements Riberio in London and for Zac Posen in New York. Jealous doesn’t even come close, the thought of working alongside iconic designers like Zac Posen in the city that defines fashion, just perfection!
Tamara explained to me that the experience fueled her passion for design. Following on from this, Tamara worked in retail for several years for Coast, both on the shop floor as a Visual Merchandiser and then in head office as part of the International Operations team. This too provided valuable experience in setting up stores and growing them into profitable businesses.
Tamara has now set up her own fashion business and being a lover of beautiful printed scarves, she is combining her design skills with her retail background in a new and exciting career chapter. With a passion for design, print, colour and nostalgia, Tamara designs beautiful scarves for all seasons by hand.
The first collection for Tamara Tobias is inspired by nature and the beauty of everyday life as explored through the eye of a camera lens.
The collection consists of six digitally printed designs. Hats, Bouquet, Florist, Flower Stall, Leaves and Hydrangea are all designed around the theme of nature and reflection in a range of colours from neutral, soft palettes to bold, bright statement prints. The sensuous theme is carried through in the use of fabrics from silk to cashmere.
I fell immediately in love with the Hydrangea print scarf, its vivid colours and blends of shades really demanded attention and for me that’s what accessories are there to do, they are not there to be muted or underwhelming they are there to add striking personality to a classic outfit. I am attending a wedding in 3 weeks and wearing a white and electric blue dress, this scarf with perfectly compliment the blue whilst adding a pop of colour allowing me to incorporate hot pink accessories likes shoes and a bag.
Tamara also creates one-off bespoke scarves for individuals using designs such as wedding bouquets or other special commemorative occasions – loosely based around floral prints, making each scarf a unique and personalised statement.
As all good style-savvy individuals know, scarves complete an outfit and are the ‘must – have’ accessory for feeling fabulous.
I am so thrilled to have found this wonderful brand and I know there will be a lot of women in my life clambering to get hold of on of Tamara’s beautiful designs.
